Update the client's website to meet ADA standards

It was a huge priority for this client to have their website meet regulatory requirements and improve accessibility for individuals with disabilities. The client required the identification and remediation of ADA accessibility issues on their WordPress website resulting in a fully compliant website.

To begin working on this project, I ran the website through a few different free accessibility audits. I found over 1,000 issues with this client's website ranging from color contrast errors to missing skip links.

To begin the remediation, I utilized WAVE to scan the website page-by-page and identified all of the errors per page. Once identified, I logged into WPEngine where the website was hosted, and edited the page to resolve all of those critical errors. I rescanned the page after implementing the fix to ensure that I didn't miss anything. I repeated this process for every page and post on that website.

Once all of those errors were resolved, I scanned the website once more using free online website accessibility audits. These scans resulted in a fully compliant website.

As tangible proof for the client to use, I created a document that shows the results of every page's compliance using two of the most common accessibility scanners.

The completion of this project resulted in a fully ADA compliant website for this client.
